چکیده

AC interference from high voltage power lines can constitute an electric shock hazard and a threat to equipment integrity during both load and fault conditions. Mitigation systems are usually installed to reduce the touch voltages so that the nearby metallic utilities are safe. This paper discusses the states of the touch and step voltages for a few typical right-ofway systems under load and fault conditions. The effects of a typical mitigation system on the inductive interference levels are also studied. The results presented in this paper clearly illustrate the safety behavior of pipelines subjected to electromagnetic interference from neighboring electrical networks and the effectiveness of mitigation. Index Terms – AC Interference, safety, pipelines, touch voltages, step voltages, potentials, induced voltages, mitigation.

Analytical study on the network of transmission lines vulnerability in Khorasan Razavi province against earthquake

Abstract Introduction Vulnerability is the limitation of a society to a risk and to dominate it for all physical, economic, social and political factors, which adversely affects the ability of the community to respond to those events. An earthquake is a natural phenomenon that will be irreversibly damaged. It has caused severe humanitarian earthquakes in the minds of a compilation of an infra...

Calculation and analysis of inductive coupling effects for HV transmission lines on aerial pipelines

Because of the continuous growth of electric energy consumption and the trend with electric lines of high voltages energy transport and metal pipelines which compose the transport of the fluids and liquid or gas hydrocarbons in the same corridor, the parallelism and the proximity of the power lines and the metallic pipelines become increasingly common. Consequently, it was an increasing concern...

Accurate Modeling and Troubleshooting of Ac Interference Problems on Pipelines

Cases of close proximity of high voltage transmission lines and metallic pipelines become more and more frequent in high population density regions. Therefore, there is a growing concern about possible hazards resulting from the influence of electrical systems: safety of people making contact with the pipeline, damage to the pipeline and CP equipment. Hence it is not surprising that there is an...

A SURVEY ON THE EFFECT OF SOIL COMPOSITION IN CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF CATHODICALLY PROTECTED BURIED PIPELINES UNDER AC INDUCED CONDITION

Abstract: Due to the expansion of high voltage Alternating Current (AC) power transmission lines and cathodically protected buried pipelines, it is becoming more and more difficult to construct them with enough safe distances between them. Thus, the pipelines are frequently exposed to induced AC interferences, which result in perturbation of Cathodic Protection (CP) due to AC corrosion. To s...

Back-flashover Investigation of HV Transmission Lines Using Transient Modeling of the Grounding Systems

The article presents the transients analysis of the substation grounding systems and transmission line tower footing resistances which can affect to the back-flashover (BF) or overvoltage across insulator chain in an HV power systems by using EMTP-RV software. The related transient modeling of the grounding systems is based on a transmission line (TL) model with considering the soil ionization....
